New Ross, March 29 – Mrs. Jane Walkup a life long resident of this place, died Tuesday evening about 7 o’clock. A complication of diseases caused her demise, which, although expected, came as a distinct shock to her many friends here and in the county. Mrs. Walkup was about 76 years of age and is survived by four children: Postmaster Rankin C. Walkup and Ward B. Walkup of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Essie Lane, living west of New Ross and Miss Mary Walkup, who lived with her mother. A sister, Mrs. White of Lebanon, also survives. Mrs. Walkup was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 10 o’clock by Rev. Mr. Francis of that church. Burial will be made in Union Cemetery. The decedent was well beloved by a large circle of friends in this and other parts of the county.
