William Clayton Walker was born in Montgomery County, Ind Nov 26, 1867, departed this life at 5:20 o'clock July 9, 1913 age 45 years 7 months and 13 days. His early life was spent in his home in this community. He obtained his education in the district schools of Coal Creek township. He was a boy of clean habits and united with the Liberty Christian Church January 9, 1890, under the pastorate of Rev. P. Trotter at the age of 22, giving the remainder of his life to the service of his Master. For years he has been closely connected with all the Church services, being superintendent of the Sunday school at the time of his death. He was ever one to be depended upon in any Church work, putting his Master's business always before his own. He will be sorely missed by the people of this community. In 1890 he was united in marriage to Etta Alice WALKER. To this union were born two children: Mary Rebecca and Anna Gertrude, both at home. William was one of a family of 8 children of Samuel M. and Rebecca Annie Walker. Of this family the mother and all four sons have entered that great beyond, Joseph and John passing away in infancy, Samuel M, Jr. losing his life in an accident at the age of 13. The father and four daughters still survive to mourn the loss, of their last brother. They are Mrs. Mary J. McWILLIAMS, Indianapolis; Mrs. Martha Edith JOHNSON, Indianapolis and Mrs. Luella Gertrude NOLAN, Chicago. Willie, as we all have learned to call him, has lived a true upright life among us. We knew him as a man of strict integrity and ever kind and sympathetic, always willing to help those in trouble. While we shall miss him still we bow in submission to our Master's will, hoping to meet him again in that better world, where death, sing and sorrow are known no more. -- typed by kbz
