Walden - Evan

Evan Walden, 76, of 711 Spann Ave., a 40-year employee of Mid-States Steel & Wire Co., died Monday night in Culver Hospital. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Walden was born Aug. 23, 1896, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, the son of William and Mary Brown Walden. He was married Aug. 17, 1918, to Fern Timothy. She died on Nov. 18, 1969. Surviving are two sons, James and Wendell of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Paula Cash of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Ernest of Crawfordsville and Simon of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Kathryn Dain of Crawfordsville and Georgia Georgian of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Grant Barton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
