Veedersburg - Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at Fishero Funeral Home for Manson Arista"Manse" Wakeland. Mr. Wakeland, 80, of Rt 3, Veedersburg died Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. Burial in Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. He was the oldest member of the United Church of Christ at Mellott and the first member to join the Veedersburg American Legion. Mr. Wakeland was past commander of the Covington VFW past member of Moose Lodge and a WWI veteran. He was self-employed and has retired in 1953. Mr. Wakeland was married to Lola Sigler in March 1920. Survivors include the widow, two sons, John of Logansport and Garnett of Azusa, California; one daughter, Mrs. Isabel Spears of North Vernon; one sister, Mrs. Anna Maranic of Tampa, Fl; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. --kbz
