A dispatch was received this morning by I. F. Wade from Los Angeles, California, stating that his son, Judge W. P. Wade, died at his home in that city yesterday evening, Nov. 5, at 7 o’clock, of stomach trouble. Judge Wade was 54 years old. He was reared in this city but went when a young man to Iowa, and at the commencement of the Civil War, enlisted in the Second Iowa Regiment. He served with distinction through the war and was severely wounded at the battle of Ft. Donelson in which his regiment took an active part. He afterward went to California where he became an eminent lawyer. He served on the bench and was a jurist of wide reputation. In politics he was an ardent Republican. In his death California loses one of its most distinguished and useful men.
