Wade - Douglas

Douglas L. (Doug) Wade, 41, of Mellott, died Sunday (April 20, 1969) at his home. He had been ill one year. He had lived in Mellott since 1955. Born Sept. 29, 1927, in Dugger, Ind., he was a son of Wallace and Jennette Booe Wade. He was married Aug. 17, 1947, in Crawfordsville to Margaret Jean Lough of Mellott who survives. He attended Linden, High School and served in the Air Force 1945-47. He was last employed by the Indiana State Highway Department in Fountain County, retiring because of ill health. Surviving besides his widow, are two sons, Pvt. Jerry T. Wade in the Army at Ft. Lewis, Wash., and Terry D. Wade of Mellott; four sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Ethel) Simpson of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Ralph (Ruby) Davis of Lafayette, Mrs. Clarence (Pauline) Briles of Lafayette and Mrs. George (Faye) King of Clarks Hill, Ind., and a brother, Wallace W. Wade of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Services Wednesday at the Crumley and Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Georg Phelps officiated. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hill. – jlr
