Watson - Samuel Henry

Samuel Henry (S. H.) Watson, 71, died Monday in Westbrook Nursing
Home here. He had been a patient at the nursing home since Friday. Prior
to that he resided at the Monon Hotel. Born Sept. 14, 1871, in Wayne
Township, he was a son of Marion and Rosanna Liter Wilson. He was twice
married. His first marriage was to Lettie May Servies who died in 1907.
His second marriage was to Charlotte Venis who died in 1931. Mr. Watson
was an 1893 graduate of Wabash College and taught school at New Market
and Garfield. He was also a principal of the Colfax school for a period
of time. He was employed at the match factory and was a warehousman at
R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. for 24 years before retirement in 1956.
He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church. Surviving are three
sons, Sam D. and Maurice M., both of Crawfordsville, and Herman D. of
Champaign, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Louise Fitzpatrick of Long Beach,
Calif.; two brothers, O. C. Watson of Crawfordsville and Earl of
Batesburg, S. C.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by a daughter and three sons. Funeral services
will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bright Funeral Home with Rev.
C. H. Loveland of the Trinity Methodist Church officiating. Burial will
be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon
Wednesday.
