New Ross, Ind May 8 -- Mrs. Emma C. Bowers has received word of the  death of her brother, A. B. WALKER at the Soldier’s Home in Danville,  Ill last week. The news of his death came as a great shock to both Mrs.  Bowers and his many friends here as no one knew of his illness. Mr.  Walker left here for the home at Danville last fall and only expected to  spend the winter there. He had expected to return to this place for the  summer and had rented his room over the Grave’s drug store. The deceased  was 72 and had lived here many years. He was a veteran of the Civil War  having served 3 years with Co K 86th Indiana. The funeral will be held  at the Soldier’s home in Danville on Saturday only Mrs. Walker, a sister  survives.

- New Ross - Mrs. Emma C. Bowers received a telegram the last of the week that her brother, Albert B. WALKER was dead at the soldiers home at Danville, Ill. As there had been no word received here of his illness the news came as a shock to relatives. Mr. Walker went to the home last autumn to spend the winter and that he expected to return here for the summer was evidenced by the fact that he had reserved his room over the Graves Durg Store. "Eill" as he was familiarly known was known to every man, woman and child in this vicinity. He was born in Lexington KY May 31, 1844 and came to Crawfordsvilel with his parents, the late Calvin Walker and wife in 1856. When only a 17 year old boy he enlisted in Co. K, 86th Indiana Regiment aqt the outbreak of the Civil War and served 3 years. When a young man he affiliated with Montgomery Lodge No. 50 F & AM and attained the rank of Knight Templar in Crawfordsville Commadnery No 25. He was an intense reader and deep thinker and was well posted on the affairs of state and nation. He possessed rare artistic taste and had apinted several landscape scenes that reflected credit on his genius. He wa snever married. The funeral was held at the home cenetery Davnville, Ill May 6. he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Emma C. Bowers, who is the last of the Walker Family. - typed by kbz
