Crawfordsville – Clifford D. Voris, 85, Crawfordsville banker and business man died Tuesday after a short illness. He was a founder of the Crawfordsville Wire & Nail Co which merged in 1928 with the Mid-West Steel & Wire Co. As a boy he was on the Crawfordsville YMCA basketball team that played one of the first basketball games in the Midwest.

Crawfordsville – Clifford D. Voris, 85, prominent businessman here for many years died at his home early today following a short illness. Voris was a founder of the Crawfordsville Wire and Nail Co and served from 1900-1928 as sec – general manager. In 1928 the firm merged with the Mid West Steel and Wire Co. Voris became a member of the board of directors. He was a director of the First National Bank, retiring last January. As a youth, Voris played forward with the Crawfordsville YMCA basketball team in the late 1880s in the first basketball game played in the Midwest. Surviving is the widow, Elizabeth. Services will be Thursday afternoon at the residence.
