Veedersburg, Ind Jan 16 – William Voorhees a wealthy farmer five miles southwest of Hillsboro was on his way home from Mellott in a sleigh when he froze to death. His horse reached Hillsboro without a driver, and a search resulted in the finding of the dead body of Voorhees in the snow.- transcribed by kbz

Veedersburg, Jan 14 – William Voorhees, a wealthy farmer 5 miles southwest of Hillsboro was found dead in a snowdrift in the road a short distance north of Hillsboro at 9 o’clock last night. He had been transacting business at Mellott and left that place at 4:30 in the afternoon for his home in a sleigh. The horse reached Hillsboro without a driver and a search resulted in the finding of his lifeless body in the snow. He left a widow and four children.
