A few days since MA West had charge of the funeral of Richard VIRTS, an old friend and neighbor. The service was held in the old Presbyterian Church at Crawfordsville, now belonging to the Nazarenes, of which Mr. Virts was a member. Mr. Virts was born in Louden Co Va in 1838. He was just reaching manhood when the Civil War broke out. As his sympathies were with the union, he was compelled to leave his home to escape service in the southern army, making his escape with considerable risk. He enlisted in the Union army and served during the war. He was a very devout man and had very strong religious convictions. - kbz
