Frank Vermillion, 78, an uncle of George Slavens, died at his home near Clinton Center in Putnam County on Tuesday night of last week. He was born in a log cabin still standing. The Russellville News says: “A touching incident at the Vermillion home was that the old, finely-bred, highly intelligent collie, which had been Mr. Vermillion’s faithful helper on the farm many years, had gone into his master’s room and had sat awhile alone and in silence by the side of the dying man. He seemed to sense the approaching separation. ” - kbz
