Ladoga, Oct 28 -- The funeral of Miss Elizabeth Vennard, who died in Chicago Saturday, occurred yesterday afternoon from the home of her brother TJ Vennard, on West Main Street. Rev. GW Sweeney, pastor of the Christian Church here was in charge of the services. J.F. Warfel, editor of the Ladoga Leader paid a beautiful tribute to the deceased. Her bier was banked about with many beautiful floral offerings. The pall bearers were WC Rapp, Urban Ford, Dr. JG Heighway, John Norton Brown, Wallace Foster and AL Havens and the flower bearers were Mrs. Ella Gill, Mrs. Ed FUller and Mrs. RC Smith. A quarter composed of Mrs. WC Rapp, Miss Madaline White, Dr. CB Werts and Mart Shackelford sang. Those here from out of town to attend the funeral were Mrs. Susan Thompson, Mrs. Ollie Rhoarer, Mrs. Beatrice Thompson and Miss Cox of Darlington; Miss Marguerite Widdop, of Indianapolis; Mrs. Earl Miller, Kokomo; Mrs. Ella Gill, Mrs. CW Grantham and Mr. and Mrs. CA Bowers of Crawfordsville. Miss Vennard was stricken with apoplexy Saturday morning about 9 and died on the evening of the same day at a hospital in Evanston. All of her life was spent in Ladoga except about 10 years. For that period she was a resident of Chicago. Owing to some delay her body did not arrive here until Tuesday afternoon. Interment was in Ladoga Cemetery. Mr. Wafel paid Miss Vennard a high compliment in his brief tribute to her memory when he declared she had done the best she could with the talents which had been given her. She was independent and self-reliant, he said with the courage to work out the problems which came into her life successfully. Coupled with her unusual grit and determination was another admirable trait - a sunny disposition and the desire to make other people happy. That she succeeded to a marked degree is the undivided verdict of the many friends who are left to mourn.
