Vaughn - Archie

Archie Vaughn, 60, husband of the former Marie Spilman Gillem, of Crawfordsville, died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday in Community Hospital at Kokomo, where he lived. Mr. Vaughn, a retired steelworker, had been in failing health for seven years and seriously ill for six months. He retired from Continental Steel Corp. in 1960 due to poor health. He was employed as a wire reeler in the galvanizing department for several years. He was a member of the Kokomo local of the United Steelworkers Union. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Church in Kokomo. A son of William and Mary Disney Vaughn, he was born Nov. 21, 1906 in Columbus, Ind. Surviving are his wife; a son, Richard; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Fleenor and Mrs. Avis Grant, all of Kokomo; a brother, B. G. Vaughn of Kokomo; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Keeling of Kokomo and Mrs. Marie Criss of Belleville, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A brother and a sister preceded him in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Ellers Mortuary in Kokomo with Rev. Gary Klinglesmith officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens there. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday. – jlr
