Dr. W. C. VanNuys, Native of Waveland, Dies at Dayton, Ohio Dr. Walter C. VanNuys, 78, superintendent of the Indiana Village for Epileptics at New Castle, Indiana, for 46 years died Monday at the home of a son, Walter C. VanNuys, Jr. Another son, Dr. John D. VanNuys, is dean of the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. The body will be taken to the Mace Funeral Home in New Castle, where funeral arrangements will be made. Dr. VanNuys, native of Waveland, Indiana was the first superintendent of the New Castle Institution, which opened in May 1906. He retired in April 1952. Besides the sons, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joseph N. Shideler of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
