James I. Vannice who has been in poor health for several months died at his home on North Cross Street, Friday night. The funeral services were conducted by Rev GW Alley after which the body was taken to Crawfordsville and interred in the Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Vannice was the son of Cornelius and Ann Vannice and was born near Harrisburg, Ky April 5, 1832. He was a brother of Mrs. Thomas Milligan. He joined the Presbyterian Church when he was 16 but after his marriage transferred his membership to the Methodist Church of which he was a faithful member. He served in Co K 1st Reg 1 VI Civil War. During the war he married a Miss Meredith. To them were born 3 boys, two of which died in infancy the other dying at 19. He married Mrs. Martha Holler Jan 1, 1889. She survives. Those from a distance present at the funeral were Mrs. Estella Strole and son Glen of Cisne, Ill; Miss Maggie Vannice of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Fulton of Ladoga.
