Fred C. VanMeter 71 of 513 Allen St, died at 2:49 p.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital where he had been a patient the past 5 weeks. Mr. VanMeter a retired butcher had been a residnt of this city 41 years. He also operated a slaughter house at Darlington a number of years. Born July 3, 1891, at Lafayette, he was the son of Goerge and Belle Daily VanMeter. He was married April 9, 1938 at Newport to Lydia Larrimore. Survivors include his wife; two sons, George and Armon of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Stella Nash of New Castle; a stepson, George Zick of Georgetown, Ill; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Hazel Giles of Metropolis, Ill; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Summers of Ft Myers, Fla; and Mrs. Hazel Graves of Lafayette; a half brother, Jack VanMeter of Dixon, Ill; 14 grandhcildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral rites are announced for 1:30 p.m. wednesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Shotts in charge. Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Georgetown Ill.
