Mrs. Mabel VanHook, 79, of Rt 1, Crawfordsville, died at 3 a.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital after an illness of several months. Mrs. VanHook was a member of the Mace Methodist Church and OES at Linden. She had attended Crawfordsville schools. She was born in Montgomery County, June 19, 1889, a daughter of David and Sara Pittman Myers. She married Bela VanHook Oct 10, 1910. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Dice; a grandson, Robert B. Dice and great grandson, John David Dice. She was preceded in death by two sisters Mrs. Anna Steele and Mrs. Bertha Lucas and two brothers, Merle and Elmer. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home here with Rev. Eddie Bamish officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today. OES services will be conducted 8 o'clock this evening. - kbz
