Gen. M. D. Manson received word yesterday evening of the death of Mrs. Jane VanHook, aged 90 years, which occurred yesterday morning at the home of her son-in-law, Lafayette Ball, of Hiawatha, Kansas. Mrs. VanHook lived in Crawfordsville until two years ago when she went to Kansas. She came to this county in 1823 and was the widow of Martin VanHook. She was one of the best known people in the county and had a large number of friends here. She leaves a valuable farm near this city. The body will be brought here for burial. Mrs. VanHook was the mother of A. J. VanHook of this city. The funeral announcement will be made later.

The remains of Mrs. Jane VanHook will reach this city this evening and be taken to the residence of J. H. Shue. The funeral will occur tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church, Rev. G. P. Fuson officiating. - thanks so much to our great typist, "S" for these two
