WINGATE — Mrs. Winnie (Phillips) Van Cleave, 87, former Wingate resident, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Mason, Evanston, Ill., after a long illness. She had made her home in Evanston for 38 years. Born here, she was educated in Wingate schools and was a member of the Wingate Methodist Church. In 1898 she was married to George W. Van Cleave, who died in 1944. He was vice president of the Terra Cotta Company, Chicago. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Mason; a son, Leon of Rockford, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Harriet Bittle of Chicago.
