Vancleave - Sarah Proctor Hicks

New Market, Sept 17 - Sarah P. Vancleave, 81 years of age, one of the oldest residents of this community, died at 12:15 o'clock Sunday at her home two miles south west of New market. Death came as a result of a paralytic stroke which she suffered about a week ago. Mrs. Vancleave was born in 1842 in this county, where she spent her entire life. She was married to Edwin Vancleave, who died Oct 14, 1918. She was one of the most highly respected residents of this community and was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving her are six daughters, Mrs. Emma Armstrong, Mrs. America Sayler and Misses Lina, Alice, Effie and Alma Vancleave, all of whom live near New Market. Funeral services will be held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. CL Airhart. Burial will be at the Indian Creek Cemetery. - kbz
