Died as a result of burns -- A hot crock of milk caused the fatal illness of Mrs. Phoebe VanCleave at New Market --Special to the Journal New Market, Aug. 17. - Mrs. Phoebe VanCleave, widow of the late Frank VanCleave, died this morning at 10 o'clock at her home a half mile south of this place of a complication of diseases. She had been ill but a few days and her sickness was caused primarily by serious burns received a few weeks ago. She was carrying a hot crock of milk when she slipped and fell, the scalding fluid burning her about the face and chest. Mrs. VanCleave leaves three children, Walter, Roy, and Carrie. She was a member of the Methodist church and a good and true woman with many friends. The funeral will occur tomorrow morning at ten o'clock at the home and interment being at Indiana Creek cemetery - kbz
