Vancleave - Orpha Cleveland

Orpha Cleveland Van Cleave, 58, years old, former resident of New Market and a brother of Mrs. Amanda Hicks, 610 east College street, died March 31 at his home in Lincoln Ill., according to message received here today by friends. Born at New Market; Sept. 3, 1884, Hicks (sic, Vancleave) moved to Lincoln, in 1910. At the time of his death he was supervisor of meters and switchboards for the Central Illinois Electric & Gas Company. He was married to Miss Lillie Stewart in Lincoln in 1911. Surviving besides the sister in this city are: the widow, two sons, Donald of Atlanta, Ill., and Duane of Lincoln, Ill., , a, daughter, Mrs. Miriam Collier of Lincoln Ill., three brothers, Ad, Jesse, and Jont Vancleave, and three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Davis, Mrs. Betty Hardee and Mrs. Evelyn Airhart, all of Crawfordsville, one son Darrel, preceded him in death. Mr. Vancleave was a member of the Christian church in Lincoln and had served the church as elder and vice chairman of the board of trustees for a number of years. He was a past master of the Lincoln Masonic lodge, and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Funeral Services and burial took place at Lincoln, with the Lincoln Masonic lodge officiating at the rites. - kbz
