Vancleave - Mary Gilliland

Mary Isabell Vancleave, 67 years of age, widow of John B. Vancleave died Monday evening at 5:30 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otis Couger, two miles east of the city on the Northwestern Traction line a complication of heart and kidney troubles being the cause of her demise. Mary Isabell Gilliland was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Gilliland, who were among the pioneer settlers of this county and very prominent people of their time. She was born at the Gillilant homestead about six miles south of the city on the Greencastle Road. She was married to John D. Vancleave, who preceded her in death. Deceased is survived by one son, Floyd Vancleave; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Surface and Mrs. Mary Cougar. A daughter, Mrs. Clarence Thompson and an infant daughter preceded her in death. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith of this city and Mrs. Ed Wray of near New Market and two brothers, James and William Gilliland. The arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.
