Vancleave - Mary Coons

Wingate - Dec17. - Mrs. Mary Van Cleave, age 96, resident of Wingate for the past 45 years, died at Culver hospital in Crawfordsville Friday morning at 7 o'clock of the infirmities of age. She had been a patient at the hospital since December 5. Mrs. Van Cleave was born southwest of Crawfordsville on September 19, 1847, the daughter of James and Sallie Van Cleave Coons, and she spent her entire life in Montgomery county. On January 13, 1878, she was married to Jonathan Van Cleave who died in February, 1927. She was a member of the Salem Baptist church. During the past eight years Mrs. Van Cleave made her home with Mrs. Etta Wilson. She had no living relatives except a grand-nephew, Harold Coons, of Indianapolis. The body was taken to the Teague funeral home where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. C.A. Duncan, of the Christian church. Burial will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
