Mrs. Cathryn (Katy) VanCleave, 95, lifelong resident of the county died Tuesday morning a few minutes after midnight at the Jennie Cutts Home. Mrs. VanCleave was born Feb 11, 1869, daughter of David H. and Mary N. Groves (sic Patton is Katy's maiden name - David H. and Mary Groves Patton). She was married July 27, 1898, to Bert H. VanCleave who died July 27, 1941. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Women's Christian Fellowship of the church and Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include a son, Harold P. VanCleave, who lives on the Waynetown Road; 4 grandchildren, Mrs. William Arnold; Robert W. and Donald E. VanCleave of Crawfordsville and Charles David VanCleave of New Market and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two half-brothers. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Howard F. Miller, First Christian Church in charge. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Wednesday. - kbz
