Vancleave - John Ralph

New Market - John Vancleave, aged 80, a farmer residing two and a half miles east of here, died at his home on Sunday evening from the effects of a paralytic stroke and other diseases incident to his advanced years. He was stricken 3 days before the end came. Two years ago he returned from the west, where he had resided for half a century in Iowa, Kansas and Colorado. Soon after returning to his native state he married Mrs. Martha A. Gott, a widow of near New Market. She survives him, as do two sisters, Mrs. George Todd of near Browns Valley and Mrs. Louisa Street of Obelrin, Kansas and two brothers, Goerge Vancleave, Lewiston Montana and Judd Vancleave of Colorado. The deceased was the son of Benjamin and Polly Vancleave, early pioneer settlers of near Browns Valley. He went west when a comparativly young man. The deceased is the last of his family. The funeral will be held at his late residence on Tuesday morning at 11 and will be conducted by Rev. Cornelius Airhart of Greencastle. The interment will be Indian Creek Hill cemetery SW of here. - kbz
