Vancleave - Jane - 1896

Jane Vancleave was born Oct. 7, 1803, two miles west of Shelbyville, Ky. She moved with her parents to Orange County, Ind., when eight years old. At the age of 18, she joined the Presbyterian Church. She was married to David Vancleave Aug. 16, 1831. She is the mother of seven children, four boys and three girls, three of whom preceded her. The second son, William Martin Vancleave, died November 30, 1864. Her husband died March 16, 1874. Her second daughter died July 6, 1895. Her eldest daughter died Dec. 11, 1895. Mrs. Jane Vancleave died April 27, 1896, at her home, north of Parkersburg. The funeral took place April 28, conducted by Rev. Fox. -s

Mrs. A. Vancleave died Monday afternoon at her home in Lapland. She was 93 years of age and had lived in this county a greater portion of her useful life. She leaves four children. The funeral occurred Tuesday at 12 o’clock, with interment at the Presbyterian Cemetery on the Terre Haute Road.
