Harry A. VanCleave, 83, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in Culver Hospital after a month's illness. He farmed early in life. He and Mrs. VanCleave operated the Montgomery County Children's Home for 9 years. He was employed in maintenance work 20 years at Wabash College until his retirement. Mr. VanCleave lived with his daughter at the Ben Hur Home. A son of Thomas and Cynthia Denman VanCleave, he was born Oct 26, 1877 in Alamo. He was married Dec 6, 1900 to Clara Clements. Mr. VanCleave was a charter member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Hugh of Rt. 1, Veedersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Williams of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Richard Korty of Cleveland; 7 grandchildren and six greats; and a niece, Mrs. Dwight Williams and nephew, Paul Carver, both of Crawfordsville. A sister, Mrs. Hattie Carver preceded him in death. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, Rev. Carlton Christenson will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. - kbz
