Vancleave - George Washington

George W. Vancleave, 65, former Wingate resident died suddenly in a Chicago hospital shortly before noon Sunday. He had suffered a heart attack at his home there early Sunday morning and was sick only a few hours. Mr. VanCleave (sic) was born 8 miles southwest of Crawfordsville on March 30, 1879, the son of Ralph and Catherine Coons VanCleave; and was later married to Winnie Phillips of Wingate, who survives. He had been a resident of Chicago for the past 31 years, where he was associated with the manufacturer of terre cotta building materials and war materials. Survivors in addition to the widow are one daughter, Mrs. Claudine Mason, Evanston, Ill; one son, Lee, Beloit, Wis; two sisters, Mrs. A. S. Goff, Elmdale and Mrs. D. C. Moore, Waynetown; one brother, H. T. VanCleave, Lawrence; and five grandchildren. The body will arrive at Linden on the 12:35 a.m. Monon train Wednesday and will be brought to the Teague Funeral Home here, where friends may call. Funeral will be held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church here in charge of Rev. O.L. Fletcher, and burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the funeral service. A brief funeral service will be held in Chicago Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, before the funeral part leaves for Wingate.
