New Market, Nov 14 -- George R. VanCleave, one of the best known residents of this community died at his home 3 miles west of here at 7:30 o'clock Thursday night at the age of 69. Mr. VanCleave had been in poor health for 5 years but he had been seriously ill for 5 days. The deceased spent his entire life on the farm on which he died. He was born Oct 15, 1861 the son of Ransom and Sarah VanCleave. The survivors are 5 sisters: Mrs. SC Davis of near Crawfordsville; Mrs. Bettie Hardee of Browns Valley; Mrs. Amanda Hicks of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Eliza Stewart of Lafayette and Mrs. Cornelius Airhart of Crawfordsville; 5 brothers, William of OK; Edward of Alamo; Jessie and Jonathan of near New Market and Orpha VanCleave of Lincoln, Ill. The funeral services will be conducted at the Browns Valley Primitive Baptist Church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock with Rev. CL Airhart in charge. Burial in Indian Creek Cemetery - kbz
