Daniel Brewer VanCleave, 76 years of age, a pioneer resident of this community died at his home here Thursday afternoon at 3:20 o'clock, following an illness of about 3 weeks with arterial sclerosis. Mr. VanCleave was the last of a family of 8 children. He had always been interested in community and church affairs and was progressive along many lines, including education. He was a prosperous and industrious farmer and had retired from farming duties and moved to New Market six years ago. Deceased was born near New Market, March 12, 1852, the son of Jesse and Charity Brewer VanCleave and was married to Anna Reynolds June 25, 1874. He was a member of the Christian Church and Fairview Detective Association. He is survived by the widow, four children, Joseph W. and Frank of near New Market, Mrs. Merle J. Coons of Crawfordsville and Dr. W. Edgar VanCleave of Talihilia, Oklahoma and 3 grandchildren." - kbz
