“Santiago News” – Mrs. Vancleave formerly of this place died at Darlington and was buried here at the old town cemetery.

This gal was hard to find and still not sure this is her but there is a Christina Elliott Vancleave 10 Feb 1899 Crawfordsville Weekly Journal in the CDPL index so this fits nicely - if anyone can tell me yes/no or anything else about this gal, please do so :)  Thanks - kbz

Christinia Elliott was born in Butler County, Ohio, Nov. 26, 1821. Her parents removed to Montgomery County, Indiana, when she was a child. She was converted and united with the M. E. Church 63 years ago, and was married to Wm M. Vancleave June 28, 1843. To them were born nine children, all dying young, except Henry N. and Thomas H., who survive her.

She lived a consistent Christian life and died in the faith on Feb. 1, 1899, being 77 years, 2 months and 6 days old. The funeral was preached at the M. E. Church at Darlington last Friday at 9:30 a.m. by Rev. W. H. Broomfield. Interment was at the old cemetery at Mace, beside her husband, who died twenty years ago, in which neighborhood they had lived the greater part of their married life.

The two sons desire to express in the keenest sense their gratitude to the members of the M. E. Church for their many, many acts of love and sympathy during the long illness of their mother.
