Vancleave - Aaron Wilson

Aaron Wilson Vancleave sixth child of David and Jane Vancleave, early settlers of this county was born in Montgomery Co Oct 2, 1844 an ddeparted this life after a brief illness at his home south of Crawfordsville, Indiana Dec 18, 1908. He united with the Presbyterian Church at Parkersburg in 1869 under the inistry of Rev. WN Steele remaining a constant and earnest worker in that church until it disbanded at which tim ehe removed his membership to the Presbyterian Church at Ladoga where he remained a member until his death. He was married Jan 10, 1870 to Mary Elizabeth youngest daughter of Samuel and Miriam Hamilton. To this unon were born 3 sons; Benjamin Franklin, David Ulysses and Wilburn Hamilton and of whom with the widow survive. Aaron Wilson Vancleave was a man who helped thos ein need of assistance.. He was a loving and thoughtful husband and father, leading a life at all time which was a worthy example of those to follow who are left behind. Aaron Vancleave departed this life Dec 18, 1908 at 4:30 p.m. after 5 days' illness. He was taken with what was thought to be colic, but gradually grew worse until death claimed him. He was born Oct 2, 1844; he leaves a wife, 3 sons, two grandchildren, two brothers and one sister to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the home Monday Dec 21 at 10:30. The body was taken to Indian Creek Hill cemetery for burial. Benjamin Vancleave of Topeka, Kan was called here to see his brother, Aaron Vancleave, but unluckily he did not get here until after the funeral. kbz
