Linden -Ernest K. Vail, 69, of Linden died at 4:45 p.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in ill health for several years. He was a trackman for the Monon RR for 35 years and retired in 1964. He was a member of the Old Rail Club & attended Waynetown schools. Born Nov 7, 1906, he was a son of James E. and Emma Kunkle Vail of Waynetown. He was married to Dorothy White at Linden in 1926. She preceded him in death April 11, 1972. He was married to Elnora Evans June 21, 1975. Surviving are his wife, four sons: Robert; Harlen R; Marvin G "Red" and James T, all of Linden; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Linda) Mussche of Linden and Mrs. Ralph (Virginia Sayler) of New Market; a brother, Harry of Linden; a stepsister, Carrie Barton of Linden; four stepsons, Charles Evans of Crawfordsville; Harry Evans of Monon; Herrold Evans of Lafayette and Ira R. Evans of West Point; 4 stepdaughters, Elizabeth Patterson of Mesa, AZ and Charlotte Lewelleyn, Hazel Jones and Wreatha Redinbo all of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; 4 greats; 20 step grandchildren and 3 step greats. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Helms Funeral Home, Linden with Revs. Henry Oakes and Bill Barkley officiating. Burial in Linden Cem. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-9 p.m Wed - kbz
