Mrs. Margaret Evans Vail, whose death on Wednesday of last week was noted in our last issue, was born in Fairbury, Ill., Nov. 21, 1865, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Evans. She taught for a number of years in the Fairbury schools. While a girl she joined the Methodist Church and has always taken great interest in its work. She was married to U. G. Vail in St. Louis, December 27, 1899. They lived in Chicago until seven years ago, when they moved to the farm north of town. She is survived by her husband, her adopted daughter, Alma, her father and her sister, Cora Evans, and a brother Alfred. The body was taken to Fairbury on Saturday for burial, after services conducted by the Rev. H. C. Riley. Alfred Evans accompanied Mr. Vail. Owing to disorganization of traffic they did not reach Fairbury until Sunday. A funeral service was held at the home on Monday, by the Rev. Mr. Louther. Mrs. Vail was liked and respected by all who knew her, and so far as her health permitted, she took an active interest in the affairs of the community. Her death is deeply regretted by a wide circle of friends. kbz
