Linden - James Edward Vail, 80 of Linden died early Friday morning at the Small Nursing Home near Waynetown following a lingering illness., The son of Shube and Nancy Vail, Mr. Vail was born Dec 28, 1873 in Montgomery County. He was twice married. His first wife, the former Emma C. Kunkel to whom he was married in 1904 died in 1906. His second wife, the former Ida Hebbs to whom he was married in 1916 died in 1931. Mr. Vail was a member of the Linden Methodist Church and a former member of the Odd Fellows lodge. Surviving are two sons, Ernest K. Vail of Linden and Harry A., Vail of Kirkpatrick; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Carrie Barton also of Linden and several nephews and nieces. Three brothers and a sister preceded Mr. Vail in death. Funeral services will be conducted at the Linden Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday in charge of the Rev. Claude M. McClure of Indianapolis, a former pastor of the church. The body will lie in state one hour at the church before the service. Burial will take plac ein the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the King and Brown Funeral Home in Linden until noon Sunday.
