Utterback - Lester

Lester Utterback, 72, former turnkey at the Montgomery County jail died Saturday midnight at his home, 124 1/2 W. Market. He had been in failing health 3 years and seriously ill 4 months. Born 14 Jan 1884 at Elmdale, the son of Stephen & Elizabeth McCoy Utterback, Mr. Utterback married Elva Jaynes May 11, 1902 in the Jaynes home at Elmdale. He was a member of the Center Christian Church north of Elmdale. During his early life, Mr. Utterback was engaged in farming. He alsowas a foreman for the Terre Haute, Indianapolis & Easterern Traction Company. Survivors include the widow, a son Emmett of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Leva Merrell of Elmdale and Mrs. Dottie Steele of Wingate; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the parents, a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev. Lester Wright and Rev John Servies will be the officiating ministers. Friends may call at the funeral home
