Utterback - John Casper

J.C.C. (Cap) Utterback. 84, a farmer in the Waynetown community most of his life, died Wednesday night at 11:10 in his home at Waynetown. He had been in failing health two years and seriously ill eight months with a heart condition. Born June 6, 1876, at Wingate, Mr. Utterback was the son of George W. and Mattie Ray Utterback. He married Carrie D. Keys, December 21, 1898. Rhey were married in Crawfordsville. Mr. Utterback was a member of Liberty Chapel Church north of Crawfordsville. He also was a former Sunday School superintendent and an auctioneer in Minnesota and Michigan for a number of years. Survivors include, the widow, three sons, Leslie Utterback of Anderson, Daniel Utterback of Crawfordsville, and Charles M. Utterback, Rt. 7, Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. Iona Marie Ellingson of Lucan Minn., Mrs. Gladys Cord of Waynetown, and Mrs. Jean Richardson of Whitehall, Mich., 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, George, an infant daughter and a sister, Lois. Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, with burial at Potts Cemetery, east of Elmdale. Rev. Guy E. Tremaine will be officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m.
