Mrs. Abraham Utter, of Pleasant Hill vicinity, was burned to death on last Thursday evening. Our Pleasant Hill correspondent gives the particulars of a sad occurence (but it isn't included - oh, geez). Mrs. Utter is a cousin to the Insley brothers.

Note: I do not know who this is. There is no Utter gal in the Crawfordsville District Library cemetery database or one on findagrave (and I won't put her on find a grave since not sure where she's buried. She may be Mildred McBroom who married an "A" Utter on December 31, 1868 in Montgomery County or Lettie Swank who married Abraham Utter on February 13, 1845 in Montgomery. ANYONE KNOW - let me know, please kbz
Note 2: The only Abraham Utter in the 1870 census is in Union Twp, a farmer, age 50 married to Mildred 32; (chilldren Mary 19; Elizabeth 14; John 13; Lincoln 7 and Jessie McBroom also in their household). So, They are also in the 1860 census in Union Twp Montgomery County - Abraham 37; Lettie 36; Joseph 13; Mary A 9; Maria E 4; John F. 2 and David M. 5 months. So, imagine this IS Lettie marrying Abraham above and then Mildred is the one who passed marrying not long after Lettie probably passed. Hmm, he went through those wives fast.

Mrs. Utter, wife of Rev. Abraham utter, living 3 miles north of this place (Pleasant Hill), was standing before the fireplace on last Thursday night, when her clothes took fire. All possible effort was made to extinguish the flames, which was done, but not however until she was so badly burned that she died on Friday morning.
