She spent her entire life in this community. She attended the public schools here and at an early age became a member of the Methodist Church to which she adhered faithfully until failing health prevented regular attendance. However no later than this fall she enrolled as a charter member of the new Womens Society of Christian Service. Indeed her whole life was surrounded by Christian influence because the home of Aaron Wolfe was the regular stopping place of the itinerate ministers of her childhood. Mr. Wolfe himself being an influential member of the Church. She had more than an ordinary talent for singing and one of the joys of her life was to sing in the Church services. Mrs. Upton was a lover of flowers and all things beautiful. With her own hand she placed many of the stones in her yard which remain as a monument of her good taste. Though she is gone the flowers she planted will bloom again this spring as a reminder that death's short winters soon pass and she lives again.
