There is a reaper whose name is Death.
And with his sickle keen
He reaps the bearded grain at a breath.
And the flowers that grow between.
Even so, it has been the Devine will
to pluck from out our midst one of our
precious earthly flowers.
Frances Kathryn Underwood, the daughter of John and Ethel Underwood was born near Mecca, Indiana. March
6, 1914, where she spent her childhood and early school days. Following her graduation from the graded school at
Judson, she entered the Marshall high school. Here as a member of the ninth and tenth grades, she took an active part in her work and school functions. For the past few years she has been an interested member of the 4-H club. Her sunny disposition and willingness was wont to make her a favorite of her coworkers.
Sunday afternoon, March 16, she fell peacefully and quietly asleep, having reached the age of sixteen years and ten days.
While her span of life was short, it was crowded with worthwhile things. By her affable ways and courteous manners, she won her way to all hearts. Of her it can truly be said, she had no enemies. She leaves to mourn her loss a father, mother, brother, Gordon, and many other relatives and friends
