Wednesday at 8 p.m. at her home on College Street, Mrs. Susan C. Tuttle, widow of the late Dr. Joseph F. Tuttle, passed away after a short illness, though she had been in failing health for some months. The funeral arrangements have not yet been definitely arranged, but the services will probably occur Saturday afternoon.
Miss Susan C. King was the daughter or Rev. Barnabas King, D. D., of New Jersey, and was born at Rockaway, in that state, April 7, 1815. She was married to Joseph F. Tuttle in 1845, who was the same year installed as pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Delaware, O. In 1847 Rev. Tuttle accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church at Rockaway, N. J., where for fifteen years he was a co-laborer with Mrs. Tuttleās father. In 1862 Dr. Tuttle was called to the presidency of Wabash College, and Mrs. Tuttle has been a resident of this city since that time.
She leaves four children, Joseph Farrand Tuttle, of Denver, Col.; Arthur Tuttle, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Mrs. C. L. Thomas and Mrs. E. B. Thomson, of this city.
Mrs. Tuttle had been a life long member of the Presbyterian Church and lived a Christian life that was a benediction to her children and friends. To her husband she was a faithful helpmate, and to her children, she was a loving and tender mother, and after a life of usefulness full of good works, she
