Darlington – Walter A. Turnipseed, 91, a retired farmer of Rt 1 died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in Culver Hospital. He had been ill one week. He was a native and life resident of Darlington and attended Darlington High School. In 1925 he was married at Linden to Vena McBee Everson and she survives. Mr. Turnipseed was a veteran of WWI serving in the Marine Corps. He was a member of the old Potato Creek Methodist Church, American Legion at Darlington and VFW at Crawfordsville. The widow is the only immediate survivor.

Walter A. Turnipseed, 91, Rt 1, Darlington, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in Culver-Hospital. He had been ill a week.  Mr. Turnipseed was a retired farmer. He had lived all his life in the Darlington community. He was a member of the Darlington American Legion, the VFW at Crawfordsville and the former Potato Creek Methodist Church.  He attended Darlington schools. He served in WWI in the US Marine Corps.  Born May 13, 1890 at Darlington, he was a son of Nathan and Martha Boots Turnipseed.  He was married to Vena McBee Everson on Oct 20, 1925 in Linden. She survives. Also surviving are two nieces and  a nephew.  A brother and three sisters are deceased. Services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Helms & Hahn Funeral Home at Linden with Rev. Larry Dettner officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. There will be an American Legion service at the graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-9 p.m. Friday. – kbz
