Funeral services for Donald G. (Don) Turner, 29-year-old Donnelley employee of Rt 7, Crawfordsville who drowned Monday afternoon in a boating accident at Freeman Lake have been set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown.  Rev. Calvin Miller of the New Market Christian Church will officiate with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Turner died when an outboard boat he was operating capsized in striking a wave in the lake as he was making a turn. Two others with him in the boat, Howard Brown, Rt 2, Crawfordsville and daughter, Sherry had life preservers and reached shore safely. The body was recovered about five hours later. Mr. and Mrs. Turner had left their daughter, Donna Louise with Mr. Turner’s parents at Waynetown and had gone to the lake for the day. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Brown and their daughter. Neither Mrs. Brown nor Mrs. Turner witnessed the accident. Two brothers, Richard and Lolas and Mrs. Tutner’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David Stephens were present during the dragging operations. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Turner live on County Line Road, Waynetown. Mr. Turner was born Jan 21, 1931 in Longview, Ill, a son of Hubert B. and Pearl Hazel Craig Turner. He was a graduate of Longview HS and was in the Army Corps of Engineers in Korea while in service. He was married Jan 1, 1955 to  Miss Jo Loiuse Stephens of Wingate. He was employed by RR Donnelley & Sons at Crawfordsville. Survivors include the widow, two children, Joe and Donna Louise, at home; five brothers, Lolas and Leon of Waynetown; Richard of Crawfordsville; Veras of Minnesota and Larry in service in Korea; a sister, Mrs. Marily Boyer of Lafayette and the parents. The body was taken to the Eikenberry Funeral Home at Delphi following the accident and was later removed to Waynetown. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
