Waynetown - Joel Tucker 70 for many years a semi-pro and professional baseball umpire died at 4 a.m. Wednesday at his home here. He had been seriously ill the past month. A son of Nobel and isabel Dowden Tucker, he was born in the Alamo community Jan 21, 1892 and lived in and near there most of his life. He married August 3, 1914 Kate Smith in Crawfordsville. A graduate of the George Barr Umpire School at Orlando, Florida, Mr. Tucker served the old Three-I League 11 years. He was employed 22 years with the county and state highway departments. Survivors include his wife; a son Max of 714 Sloan st, Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Imogene Fruit of Rt 4, Crawfordsville and Mrs. Letha Mae Potts of Sitkum, Oregon and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. Interment will be in Alamo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday
