Joel Tucker, an aged and well respected citizen of this place, died at the home of his son, Norval Tucker, Tuesday morning after a long and tedious illness. He suffered many years with rheumatism, but was very cheerful and patient with all his troubles. He was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, and came to this place when a young man. He worked at the blacksmith trade for a number of years, and then purchased a farm on which he has lived with his wife and children for many years past. He died at the age of 74, leaving a wife and two children, Norval Tucker and Mrs. James Stonebraker.
Interment took place at the Stonebraker Cemetery. Mr. Smith conducted the funeral services at the home and the grave. Peace to his ashes. -s

Joel Tucker was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, near Carthage. He came to Indiana June 27th, 1853, also was a blacksmith in the town of Alamo for many years. He was married to Martha Southard April 22, 1858. He then purchased a farm one half mile southwest of Alamo, on which he had lived for 26 years, when he was called to cross the dark river of death. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. He was 74 years, 5 months and 23 days of age. -s
