Ralph E. Truax, 69, of 4145 N.
County Road 375 W., West Lafayette, died at 11:35 a.m. Monday Jan. 17, 1994, in
Otterbein Health Care. He had been a patient there three months and in failing
health since May. Mr. Truax was a process and design engineer at Eli Lilly from
1947 until he retired in 1985. Born June 20, 1924, in Paragon, Ind., he had
lived in the Lafayette area for the past 36 years. He was valedictorian of his
1941 graduating class at Mooresville High School and graduated from Purdue
University with a degree in chemical engineering in 1944. Mr. Truax was a
member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, American Institute of Chemical
Engineers, Tau Beta Pi, Omega Chi and Phi Lambda Upsilon fraternities and
Catalist Club. He was past president of Phillipe de Triuex Genealogical
Society. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Pauline H.
Pluris on June 8, 1952, in Indianapolis. Surviving are his wife; three sons,
Mark A. Truax M.D. of Crawfordsville, Brad L. Truax M>D of Muncie and
Stephen Truax of Marion; a daughter, Nancy L. Padgette of West Lafayette; two
brothers, Ross A. Truax of Mooresville and Philip P. Truax of Fort Worth,
Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. There was no
visitation. Memorial service was 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994 at Covenant
Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. James Tozer officiated. Private family
entombment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be
made to the American Cancer Society. Soller-Baker West Lafayette funeral
directors were in charge of the arrangements. – jlr
