A former Hillsboro resident, Mrs. Aura Trowbridge, 77 of 109 Wallace Ave, Crawfordsville died at Culver Hospital in the city, Monday afternoon after having been a hospital patient for three weeks. She was born in Hillsboro April 21, 1877, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Starnes. On July 28, 1897 she was married to Charles Trowbridge who preceded her in death on Dec 24, 1936. They lived in Indianapolis for a time, then moved to Mishawaka, later to Crawfordsville in 1918 where Mr. Trowbridge was engaged in the  advertising business.  Mrs. Trowbridge was a member of the First Methodist Church, the WSCS, the Alice Ross Bible Class, the Athens Chapter of OES, the Flower Lovers Club and of the Home Economics Club. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ladd J. Mathisson of Crawfordsville; one sister, Mrs. Charles Keeling of Hillsboro and two granddaughters, Jane Kay and Susan Gay both of Crawfordsville. Funeral service was held at the Bright Funeral Home in Crawfordsville Thursday afternoon with Rev. Donald McMahan officiating.  Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. – kbz

Mrs. Aura Trowbridge, 77 years old, widow of Charles Trowbridge night editor of The Indianapolis Sentinel predecessor of The Indianapolis Star died Monday at Culver Hospital Crawfordsville where she had been  a patient three days.  

Born at Hillboro in Fountain County Mrs. Trowbridge went to Crawfordsville in 1918 from Mishawaka where her husband operated an advertising agency after leaving Indianapolis. The husband who died in 1936 also operated an advertising agency in Crawfordsville several years.

Mrs. Trowbridge was a member of the First Methodist Church and Athens Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star of Crawfordsville.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ladd J. Matthiason of Crawfordsville and a sister, Mrs. Charles Keeling of Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bright Funeral Home, Crawfordsville with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery near Hillsboro.
