LINDEN — W. Carl Triplett, 75, a retired state highway worker, died early today in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. He had been ill three weeks and hospitalized two weeks. He was a member of the Baptist Church and attended the Christian Church at Advance. Mr.. Triplett was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, a son of John L. and Mary E. Austin Triplett. He lived at Wingate most of his life, at Advance for 12 years and with his daughter at Linden for the past 2 1/2 years. He first was married to Eva Lovell in Hardin County in 1917. She died. He was wed to Amy Axsom in 1919. He was later married to Mable Essex, who died in 1971. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Berniece) McCormick of Linden and Betty Triplett of Crawfordsville; a son, Homer of Brook; a sister, Mrs. Maude Kendall of Darlington; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Helms Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Oaks Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Meharry Cemetery at Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
